The future of Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger still up in the air with the club

According to the Daily Mail, German defender Antonio Rudiger has turned down an upgraded contract offer from Chelsea. The center-contract back is coming to an end in the next five months, and he is free to talk with foreign teams. Despite this, the Blues are still interested in extending his contract, but little progress has been made in discussions. Rudiger is currently paid £100,000 per week. He previously rejected a weekly salary of roughly £140,000.

The Blues have increased their contract offer to about £200,000 per week, but the 28-year-old has remained firm in his position. The west London giants are hopeful of extending his stay, but they don't have much time as prominent European teams are circling. Real Madrid and PSG have already begun discussions with Rudiger's agency about a possible pre-contract deal. Rudiger will be aware that his next contract might be the most lucrative of his career, and he may wait until the summer to make a choice.
