If there is an area of the pitch Real Madrid could see most changes in the summer, it is in defence. The partnership between Varane and Ramos, which has made Real Madrid fans very happy over the years, is close to being over.

Real Madrid, with the arrival of Alaba and the confirmation that Militao and Nacho are great alternatives in defence, will have to decide between the Spaniard and the Frenchman. They are both World Cup winners.

Ramos' situation is well known. From 1st July, he will become a free agent and clubs will be able to get him for nothing. Nevertheless, he has already told the media he is keen to stay in the Spanish capital.

The Frenchman has not publicly stated that he wants to stay and his position has concerned the club. As his contract expires in the 2021-22 season, he could leave for free.
