Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke in depth about the European Super League. He believes it has failed, but should serve as a warning to clubs.
This Sunday, it is exactly a week since the European Super League was created. It was a new competition featuring the biggest clubs in Europe, but it ended up failing after outcry from fans and UEFA.
Bayern Munich never joined the project and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, their chief executive, spoke at depth about the reason they turned it down. "The idea has failed for good. But it was a good warning," he told 'Bild am Sonntag'. He also said the people's response has been good.
"Football works slightly differently to businesses and some club presidents understood that," he continued. He recalled that the English clubs, and then almost all the Italian ones, withdrew from the league.
