This month, Liverpool has a clear need to add a midfield player

Liverpool's season-ending lack of depth in the squad was inevitable, but the severity of the issue has only now come to light. The remarkable quadruple push from last year suggested everything was still in good shape, and other competitors seemed to be in far worse shape. Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo have left Manchester United and Chelsea, respectively, even though Erik ten Hag's rebuild is starting to gain momentum.

While Kostas Tsimikas, Roberto Firmino, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain defied expectations to contribute to the campaign, Liverpool's version of last season appeared to have an underappreciated depth. Even Fabinho had a brief period of productive goal-scoring. The Brazilian, however, demonstrates where things have begun to go awry. With the addition of Luis Dáz and more recently Cody Gakpo, the forward line has been strengthened, and Ibrahima Konaté has helped to establish the back line for future seasons.
