Tom Heaton agreed to a deal with Manchester United

Tom Heaton has agreed to sign with Manchester United this summer. The 35-year old will play for the Red Devils once more at Old Trafford and would arrive on a free transfer after his contract expires at Villa Park at the end of June. Heaton has not played for Villa’s starting XI for 16 months after he picked up a knee ligament injury in the win against Burnley last year.

Although he was the first choice in goalkeepers for Villa last season but Smith had to turn to Jed Steer and Orjan Nyland after his injury. Even though Heaton then returned to fitness in December by then Villa had Emiliano Martinez to rely on who moved from Arsenal after a £20million deal was struck with Villa. The Argentine goalkeeper then produced 15 clean sheets in a campaign and sealed the fate of Heaton.
