Reds striker Taiwo Awoniyi is hoping to secure a permanent move to the Bundesliga side Union Berlin this summer. After a successful loan spell last season at the club, the deal is all but finalized after he impressed many with his performance. Awoniyi has been on Liverpool’s books for six years now but is ready to part ways with the club and move to Stadion An der Alten Försterei for £6.5 million. Die Eisernen would set a new transfer record if they can secure the services of the 23-year-old striker.
In the 22 outings for the Iron Ones, the Nigeria international netted 5 times and chipped in 3 assists as well, but unfortunately, his season ended early in February when a muscle injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. Union finished seventh ultimately and would be participating in Europa for the second time in the club’s history.
