Pellegrino Matarazzo,VfB head coach made four changes to the squad. This began the away game at Arminia Bielefeld. Philipp Förster and Borna Sosa were unavailable. It is due to muscular issues, Mateo Klimowicz and Sasa Kalajdzic had to settle for a place on the bench. Nicolas Gonzalez, Silas Wamangituka, Daniel Didavi and Gonzalo Castro all came into the side.

Wamangituka took the ball forward past his opponents with a slight touch of the feet by continuously bouncing into the Freiburg penalty area. That too before setting up Didavi.
