The Catalans cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory away from home thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski and goals from Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres. The visitors scored after just 20 minutes as they were still on a high after their victory over Real Madrid prior to the interval. Lewandowski scored a close-range goal off of a header from Ronald Araujo to snap a three-game goalless streak. Although putting in a heroic attempt, the home team was unable to score an equalizer, and Fati's goal in the 55th minute further dashed their hopes. Then, in the 66th minute, Lewandowski put an end to the contest. And later Torres scored his third goal of the year to seal the victory.
Fidel Chaves de la Torre, Ral Guti, and José Antonio Ferrández Pomares all came close as Elche made a late comeback, but Marc-André ter Stegen held on to keep another clean sheet for Barcelona.
