Young Boys 2-0 win over Red Star Belgrade

Young Boys secured their place in the second-tier Europa League knockout stage of the playoffs with their first victory in Group G. In its two prior outings at this point, Young Boys placed last in its group.

Red Star did not win. After their 2-2 tie in Belgrade on October 4, both Red Star and Young Boys had only one point from their previous four games and were already eliminated from the running for the last 16. Tuesday's other match in the group saw Manchester City come back from a two goal deficit to defeat Leipzig 3-2 and take first position. On his first Champions League debut, 17-year-old full back Kosta Nedeljković gave Young Boys the early lead by deflecting Loris Benito's shot into his own goal. Cherif Ndiaye wasted two early scoring opportunities for the visitors, one of several that Red Star would have during the game, until Red Star's goal in the eighth minute.
