Maradona was a better player in his prime than Barcelona's Leo Messi, according to Brazilian legend Zico.
The debate as to who was the greatest footballer to ever play the game has been a common one throughout Messi's career, often compared with his iconic compatriot Maradona.
Zico, currently the sporting director of Kashima Antlers, has had his say on the matter.
"I believe Maradona played in a more competitive time. He always played with someone man-marking him. Maradona gave a lot to his teams, like Messi does, but Maradona gave a lot for Argentina: he was both a world champion and a runner-up", he explained.
Zico is regarded as one of Brazil's most talented ever players, scoring 48 goals in 71 official appearances for his country.
