Żurkowski salvages a draw for Empoli against Genoa

A power packed performance by Substitute Szymon Żurkowski rescued Empoli with a 2-2 draw against the relegation-threatened Genoa in Serie A. Żurkowski first set up a goal and later scored one for the team on Friday to give the team a lead but Flavio Bianchi equalized for Genoa at the last moment to relieve some pressure off Genoa coach Davide Ballardini.

With the one point, Empoli moved into the eight spot, and Genoa, on the other hand, kept longing for a win but moves one spot above the drop zone. The team only has one win in 12 matches so far. Empoli leveled first when Żurkowski first set up Federico Di Francesco and went on to score from over 25 yards away in the second half. While Genoa had pulled ahead first with a first-half penalty which was converted by Domenico Criscito, who is on a streak of converting his last seven penalties in Serie A and so far has converted 15 of 17 penalties in the tournament.
