Frenkie De Jong has long since been linked to a move to Chelsea but the player made up his mind to stay put at Barcelona despite lucrative offers from Blues. The 24-year-old became part of the Catalan squad with a £77million deal in July 2019. Since then the Netherlands International has been handed 120 appearances for Barca as well as cracked his way into the Netherlands national team starting XI.
Despite the financial woes, De Jong is contracted to stay with the team until 2026, as an interest to whisk him away intensified outside. The midfielder, decided to stay put at Camp Nou and might have the same stand in the summer transfer market but Chelsea’s taskmaster Tuchel is a hard person to say no to.
