ESPN's Shams Charania reports that Chris Boucher will sign a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the Boston Celtics. With the exception of one game with the Golden State Warriors, Boucher has played for the Toronto Raptors for nearly his whole career. He will provide the Celtics and Joe Mazzulla with a reliable centre option on the roster.
The addition of Boucher to the roster provides Mazzulla with a seasoned presence at centre to fall back on in case Neemias Queta is unable to start in the upcoming campaign. Mazzulla can roll with Boucher if Luka Garza or Queta have trouble.Queta has yet to prove himself at the NBA level. He’s still shown signs of struggling with processing speed, and he often finds himself out of position on both ends (and in foul trouble).
