On Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the New York Knicks 128-124 to record their second straight outstanding victory against a top-tier opponent during this current seven-game homestand. After acquiring OG Anunoby, New York had been on a five-game winning run and had been playing like the best basketball team in the league for the previous seven days. Notwithstanding the Mavericks nearly blowing a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter, that added even more significance to the victory.
Tim Hardaway Jr. had a huge game, Kyrie Irving was exceptional, and nearly every Maverick who saw action on the court had one or two plays that swung momentum. Although the outcome wasn't perfect, Dallas managed to win this game. Dallas took advantage of New York's inept effort to open the game by turning the Knicks over, making big threes, and sprinting in transition whenever possible.
