The New York Knicks have waived center Drew Eubanks just days before NBA teams must finalize their 2026-27 rosters and the franchise opens its campaign against the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Eubanks suffered a torn pectoral muscle during training camp, jeopardizing his chances of earning a backup center position. He had competed with James Wiseman and Tony Bradley for the role.
The 29-year-old featured in three preseason contests, recording 13 points and three rebounds in 28 minutes before medical assessments prompted the Knicks to part ways with him.
Eubanks was signed to an Exhibit 9 contract, limiting New York’s financial obligation to a one-time $15,000 payment upon his release. Undrafted in 2018, the 6-foot-10 center built his NBA career with San Antonio, Portland, Phoenix, Utah, the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento, establishing himself as a physical, reliable interior presence.
