Los Angeles Lakers beat the New York Knicks 129-123

LeBron James finished with a triple-double as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the New York Knicks 129-123 on Tuesday night. He came within 89 points of breaking the NBA's all-time scoring record and moved up to fourth place on the list of assists. James finished with 28 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. He now has 38,299 career points. With 38,387, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is in first place.

However, as James once again demonstrated on Tuesday, his game has never only been about scoring goals. He passed to Dennis Schroder for a 3-pointer with 3:13 left to break the tie, grabbed his 10th rebound later in the extra session, and then sprinted to the hoop with 19 seconds left to give his team a 127-121 advantage. The Lakers, who had lost their first two games of the trip, added 27 points and nine rebounds from Anthony Davis.
