In an effort to strengthen defence and add frontcourt insurance as they attempt to remain competitive in the post-Anthony Davis era, the Los Angeles Lakers signed 7-foot centre Kylor Kelley. In late August 2025, Kelley signed an Exhibit 10 training camp deal with the Lakers. He has the opportunity to push for a roster position during preseason thanks to this short-term contract. He can still play for the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers' G League affiliate, if he is waived.
Kelley anchored the paint for South Bay the previous season, making an impression with his inside defence and rim protection. He had brief stints with the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. Although Kelley and Luka Doncic overlapped on the Mavericks, they never shared the floor due to injuries-most notably Doncic's calf strain in December.
