Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards were the top two vote-getters in NBA Rookie of the Year voting. Both the players have been selected for the All-Rookie First Team, unanimously. The announcement was made before Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.
Ball was awarded the Rookie of the Year Award while Edwards finished second in that list. Ball was the third overall selection in the 2020 draft and averaged 15.7 points and 6.1 assists per game even won three Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month Awards meanwhile Edwards averaged 19.3 points per game best among the rookies who won the Western Conference Rookie of the Month Awards for three consecutive months. Ball also beat Sacramento Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton, and Detroit Pistons forward Saddiq Bey. In the second team, we have Immanuel Quickley, Desmond Bane, Isaiah Stewart, Isaac Okoro, and Patrick Williams.
