NBA hits Suggs with $25k fine for mouthguard toss

The NBA has fined Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs $25,000 for throwing his mouthguard toward the stands during the team’s defeat in Charlotte. The incident occurred with 5:35 left in the first quarter, leading to an immediate technical foul and a swift disciplinary response from the league office.

Suggs, drafted fifth overall in 2021, has been one of Orlando’s most reliable contributors this season, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals while anchoring the Magic’s perimeter defense. His importance to the franchise was reinforced last summer when he signed a five‑year, $150.5 million extension, positioning him as a long‑term cornerstone of the roster.

While the fine ends the matter from a disciplinary standpoint, it highlights the league’s firm stance on player behavior involving spectators as Orlando aims to regain stability in its Eastern Conference campaign.
