San Antonio reaffirms trust in De’Aaron Fox

San Antonio are sending a clear message: De’Aaron Fox remains central to their long‑term vision. After a difficult Finals run and the rapid emergence of rookie Dylan Harper, questions had surfaced about Fox’s future within the Spurs’ evolving backcourt. But ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that the franchise is fully committed to him as their lead guard and intends to continue building around his skill set.

Fox arrived shortly before the 2025 trade deadline and later signed a four‑year, $229 million extension, underscoring the organisation’s belief in him. The addition of Harper with the second pick, alongside Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama, has created a young, dynamic core with no immediate financial pressure to force decisions. Fox is under contract through 2030.

His playoff return from a significant ankle sprain also strengthened internal confidence. The challenge now is balancing experience with rising talent, but all indications suggest the Spurs will move forward with Fox, Harper and Castle together.
