In his return to Washington, Bradley Beal and the Phoenix Suns (29-21) upset the Washington Wizards (9-40) 140-112. After playing with the Wizards for 11 seasons, Beal was moved to Phoenix in the off-season. Kyle Kuzma, the team's top scorer, and Marvin Bagley III were out for the game because of injuries. Tyus Jones, Jordan Poole, Deni Avdija, Bilal Coulibaly, and Daniel Gafford made up the starting lineup.
Leading the way, Avdija scored a team-high 24 points while shooting 10–13. Poole had a difficult night, scoring only four points and going 1–7 from the field. With the assistance of forward Eugene Omoruyi with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Corey Kispert with 15 points, and Landry Shamet who scored 13 points, the Wizards bench made a significant contribution. Bagley's intensity on both ends of the court and Kuzma's scoring were missed. With Beal scoring 43 points, the Suns had an offensive firepower that the Wizards were unable to match.
