Tatum says his bond with Jaylen Brown remains built on “nothing but respect”

Jayson Tatum has moved to end speculation about his relationship with Jaylen Brown following Boston’s decision to trade the All‑Star to Philadelphia. Speaking on the Dan Patrick Show, Tatum dismissed any notion of tension, stressing that outside narratives never matched reality. He highlighted nine seasons of shared growth, five Eastern Conference Finals, two NBA Finals and the 2024 championship, calling their partnership “incredible” and inseparable.

The trade, he acknowledged, stemmed from market dynamics after Boston’s failed pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the Celtics ultimately accepting a package built around Paul George and future picks. Tatum noted that the NBA’s economic structure inevitably forces change, adding that no roster stays together forever.

Still, he framed the end of their run as something to celebrate, praising Brown’s character and career‑best season. Looking ahead to facing Brown and LeBron James in Philadelphia, Tatum joked he would guard “everyone eventually” in today’s switch‑heavy league.
