South African legend AB de Villiers, who announced his retirement from the cash-rich league back in November 2021, is set to make his return to the Indian Premier League next season. De Villiers confirmed that he would be seen in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp in the year 2023 but his role is still unsure with the side.
RCB’s Virat Kohli had also hinted earlier in the year that De Villiers is likely to join the Bangalore-based franchise soon. The Pretoria-born cricketer is one of the most successful batters in the league, he kicked off his career with Delhi Capitals and transitioned to RCB in 2011, and became a familiar face at the franchise for the past 11 seasons. In 184 matches he has notched 5162 runs hitting three tons and 40 half-centuries.
