The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is getting ready for an Asia Cup without Pakistan, a decision that might have a significant impact on Babar Azam's team's ability to compete in the World Cup in India in October-November.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi's "hybrid model" has been rejected by the other nations, according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the head of the ACC. Shah stated that there should only be one location for the tournament to be conducted, and that location is Sri Lanka, after recent informal discussions with the leaders of member states in Ahmedabad. If Pakistan does not take part, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will be the four teams competing. It has not yet been decided if a fifth team would be added.
