Australia triumphed over India in the first ODI

Hosts were able to clinch the first winner in the ODI series in the emotional Sydney Cricket Ground by 66 runs. For Australia, this was their first Cricket Series after the New Zealand ODI series was brought to a halt. The return of the sports amongst 20,000 spectators was emotional enough as it is, the win was like the cherry on top. Australia set the target at 374-6 in the 50 overs with expert play by Aaron Finch and his 17th ODI century with 114, Steve Smith who contributed 105. Australia played the second inning great as well with Adam Zampa clinching 4 for 54 and Hazlewood trimmed 3 more for 55 to cut India’s batting order.

The Indian Inning started strong but they fell short of 66 runs to end up at 308 where Openers Hardik Pandya scored 90 and Shikhar Dhawan posted 74. On the Bowling side, we saw a good effort by Mohammed Shami who took three wickets for 59.
