In a much-needed victory for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), they bounced back to winning ways on Monday with a commanding performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Batting first, KKR struggled to establish a competitive total, managing only 137/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer top-scored for KKR with 34 off 32 deliveries, but it was evident that the team struggled to find momentum on what was considered a good batting surface at Chepauk.
CSK's bowling unit, which had faced criticism in previous matches, came to the fore, executing their plans effectively to restrict KKR to a modest total. Seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja led the charge with impressive figures of 3/18, constantly putting pressure on the KKR batsmen. Pacer Tushar Deshpande also made a significant contribution, claiming three crucial wickets for 33 runs, while Mustafizur Rehman chipped in with two wickets, conceding just 22 runs.
