Chennai Super Kings had resigned Deepak Chahar of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League for a whopping INR 14 crore in the mega auction but the team may have to play without the bowling all-rounder for the majority of the season due to fitness issues. His performance in white-ball cricket has been sub-par as well but the player sustained a quadricep tear while taking part in the third T20I against West Indies.
The injury kept him out of the Sri Lanka T20I series as well and it seems like his rest period would run long making him unavailable for the upcoming IPL season which is set to start from March 26 and go on till May 29. His absence would be a big blow to Defending champions.
