Deepak Chahar of the Chennai Super Kings will miss the first half of the Indian Premier League owing to a right quadriceps injury acquired during the third and final T20 encounter against the West Indies in Kolkata. Chahar is expected to remain out for eight weeks, according to BCCI sources.
CSK is still waiting for a final report from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where the pacer is recuperating, before the IPL 2022 begins on March 26. CSK paid Rs 14 crore for Chahar, making him the second most expensive player in this year's IPL auction. On February 20, the 29-year-old suffered a right quadriceps injury while playing in the final T20 against the West Indies in Kolkata, and was consequently ruled out of India's three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka, which India won 3-0.
