Due to an injury, Mohammed Shami will not play in the Bangladesh ODI series.

Due to a hand injury, veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami will not play in the ODI series against Bangladesh, which begins on Sunday, a BCCI source said on Saturday. Shami reportedly sustained the injury during a training session following his return from Australia, when the Indian side lost in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup.

Shami might potentially be out from the forthcoming two-Test series, which starts on December 14 in Chittagong. Mohammed Shami hurt his hand after returning to training after the T20 World Cup in Australia. The Bengal speedster, 33, is a crucial component of India's ODI strategy heading into the World Cup in 2014. Even though Shami missed three ODI matches, his probable absence from Test matches, when he is expected to lead the attack in place of Jasprit Bumrah, is more concerning.
