England claims their first victory in 2021

Joe Root believes they started the year 2021 right with a great victory over Sri Lanka with their first test win in Galle. Setting the tone for the rest of the busy year for the England Cricket Team as they will soon take on India and even the current No.1 ranked in ICC World Test table, New Zealand. The seven-wicket victory was a great way to seal a win with a double century by Root and the 14 wickets haul by Jack Leach and Dom Bess to ensure an easy target on day 5 to chase.

England successfully completed the 74 run chase to win the first of two matches at Galle with the help of Jonny Bairstow and debutant Dan Lawrence who partnered together to score 62 for the England team taking the fourth back-to-back win after a 3-0 win over South Africa last winter.
