England Squad announced for Sri Lanka's tour

England's Test tour of Sri Lanka is set to begin on 14 January after their recent tour was cut short due to COVID-19 and the two-match Test series will not have Ben Stokes, who is sitting out because of the death of his father while Jofra Archer would be rested so that Jonny Bairstow can be part of the test squad. Both the matches are scheduled to be played in Galle.

The reason for resting Jofra Archer was simply because England wants the player to be present when England takes on India from 5th February as soon as the Sri Lanka’s tour is over. Jonny Bairstow however had recently pulled out of Melbourne Stars' Big Bash League campaign, and Ollie Pope might be missing the tour as well due to shoulder injury.
