Head delivers a scorching hundred to set up Australia’s win

Due to a fractured hand, Travis Head was unable to play in Australia's first five matches of the tournament, which caused him to arrive in India later than expected for the main event. But the left-hander scored a 59-ball century and a rapid 175-run opening partnership with David Warner to help Australia to an overwhelming 388 score. New Zealand put up a good fight in return, forcing the game to the last ball. New Zealand needed 6 runs on the final ball but could not complete the chase successfully.

With 3/74, Adam Zampa spearheaded Australia's bowling assault. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood followed with two wickets each, while Glenn Maxwell claimed one. Five-time winners, after winning four of their last six games, Australia is now tied with New Zealand on eight points, but they have a worse net run rate than them.
