Imad Wasim to come out of retirement

Four months after completing his international career, Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim declared he will come out of retirement to compete in the Twenty20 World Cup this year. In the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the 35-year-old left-handed batsman and off-spinner was instrumental in leading Islamabad United to victory. He amassed an unbeaten 19 runs while claiming five wickets. In the 12 league games Islamabad played, he claimed 12 wickets and amassed 126 runs.

Although Wasim has participated in 55 One-Day Internationals and 66 Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan, selectors have frequently questioned his physical condition and demeanor. He played a role in Pakistan's Twenty20 lineup during the April 2017 series against New Zealand, but he decided to end his international career after being left out of the 50-over World Cup team in October and November.
