India beats Sri Lanka in the first T20 match

Sri Lanka first restricted India to 164 for 5 in the first T20 opener at the R. Premadasa Stadium. Hoping to chase down the target with ease, Sri Lanka’s lackluster batting did not let that happen. The only decent performance we saw, came from Charith Asalanka who made 44 off 26 other than that Sri Lanka’s batting order collapsed quickly in 18.3 overs posting just 126 runs on the scoreboard.

Buvaneshwar Kumar won the Player of the Match award with 22-4 efforts and he found support in Deepak Chahar who took 2 for 24 as they helped curtail Sri Lanka to 90-4 in 12 overs. For India, skipper Shikhar Dhawan stood strong posting 51 runs in 37 balls, and later the momentum was carried by Suryakumar Yadav who hit a half-century in 34 deliveries with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.
