It was a hopeful day 3 for India in the 3rd Test facing England. Cheteshwar Pujara alongside India captain Virat Kohli succeeded to keep England at bay at Headingley on Friday. Pujara very close to his first Test century with 91 not out, took India to 215-2 aided by Kohli’s 45 not out in the second innings when bad light led to an early close with the visitors 139 runs behind England's first-innings 432.
Scoring their high scores of the series, both the batsmen partnered 99 runs to save face for India following first-innings 78. Rohit Sharma’s 59, the second fifty also added well to India’s score only to lbw by Robinson. England resuming on 423-8 following captain Joe Root’s 121, only added nine runs on Friday with Craig Overton, 24 not out overnight hitting two fours off Mohammed Shami while Jasprit Bumrah bowled Ollie Robinson duck to end the innings.
