IPL 2024: Shreyas Iyer is declared fit

In a positive update for the Kolkata Knight Riders, their captain Shreyas Iyer has received a fitness certificate ahead of IPL 2024 despite battling back spasms. Iyer, who had to sit out from the final two days of the recent Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Vidarbha due to this issue, has been advised by a spine specialist in Mumbai, recommended by the National Cricket Academy, to avoid stretching his leg too much while playing the forward defensive shot to prevent exacerbating the injury. 

Despite experiencing back problems since the 2nd Test of the recent India-England series, Iyer has been deemed fit to play by the specialist. Despite Iyer's claim of back pain after batting for a certain period during the series, the NCA found no fitness concerns initially, leading to his omission from the India squad for the remaining matches.
