James Hartshorn, a seam bowler, has signed with Worcestershire for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old, who has experience playing in England for Sussex club Middleton, joins a team beset by injuries, after the early termination of another New Zealander Nathan Smith's stay and his return home due to a hamstring issue. Smith's Wellington, New Zealand, teammate Hartshorn has claimed 19 wickets in 11 first-class games thus far.
"It's a pretty flexible arrangement with James," Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson stated. "He has been performing really well while playing for the Middleton Cricket Club in Sussex. "It's no secret we are a little bit short of numbers in terms of injuries and so James has that opportunity to come and join us."
