Matthew Wade announces retirement

The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade will be leaving first-class cricket following Tasmania's Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia. The 36-year-old made this choice in order to focus on his white-ball goals and make the Australian T20 World Cup team in June. Wade made the decision to postpone his entrance in the Indian Premier League in order to attend this important game.

Even though he will miss the Gujarat Titans' IPL 2024 opening stages, for the time being, Tasmania's pursuit of their first Sheffield Shield championship since 2012–13 takes precedence. Matthew Wade's focus on Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield final takes precedence over his involvement in the first phase of the 2024 Indian Premier League with the Gujarat Titans. He will undoubtedly miss the opening game on March 25th against the Mumbai Indians because the final is scheduled to take place from March 21 to the 25th.
