Matthew Wade has enjoyed a rich career with Australia making his debut in 2011. Playing 55 T20I matches for Australia, he has helped the team clinch their maiden ICC T20 WC in 2021. Wade was the lower middle order firework that offered stability to the team that took down Pakistan in the semi-final, with his unbeaten 41 off 17 deliveries to put Australia into the finals. He even sent Shaheen Afridi packing home with three sixes in the end.
Even after his efforts in the World Cup campaign Wade was dropped for the Ashes and the Tasmanian was replaced with wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey. The gloveman now drops hints that he is set to retire after the next T20 WC campaign which is all set to take place in Australia in 2022. The Australian team would defend their maiden title at home and it might serve as the last time the 33-year-old is seen in the Australian jersey.
