Former Australian spinner Shane Warne is not happy with the team selection and New Zealand’s strategy at Southhampton. Warne takes a dig over twitter concerning the negative strategy by Kane Williamson over temporary rival Joe Root. He has explicitly questioned their play moving forward without a spinner. Both teams played to their strengths, with India going with both spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja – and New Zealand going with an all-seam attack.
After rain washed out the whole first day of play on Friday, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson chose to field after winning the toss in cloudy conditions. By the end of Day 2, India scored 146/3 with 64.4 overs. New Zealand is yet to bat.
