Linsey Smith was signed as an international replacement player this summer, joining other foreign additions Chloe Tryon, Suzie Bates, and Jess Kerr on the Sydney Sixers roster. According to league regulations, clubs may recruit up to six foreign players (three primary and three replacement), but only three may play at the same time.
Smith will reconnect with her Southern Vipers coach, Charlotte Edwards, after a stellar summer in which the pair won both the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and the appropriately called Charlotte Edwards Cup in the English domestic divisions. The 28-year-old was one of the leading wicket-takers in both domestic leagues this past English summer, taking nine wickets from seven outings with the Northern Superchargers in this year's version of The Hundred. Previously playing with the Melbourne Stars for WBBL 07, she will face her former team tomorrow night at North Sydney Oval, as the Sixers kick off the WBBL season against the Meg Lanning-led Stars.
