Travis Head made an astonishing return to Test cricket to stay by Australia’s side to take the score from 3-12 to 5-204 with his second Ashes century. Head’s ton helped Australia take control on day one of the fifth and final games of the Ashes series.
In the first session itself, England reduced the team to 3-12 but Head’s 101 knock along with solid effort by Cameron Green (74) and Marnus Labuschagne (44) helped the team end the day at 6-241. David Warner (0), Usman Khawaja (6), and Steve Smith (0) came and went by quickly in just 10 overs while England’s clever bowling attack led by Robinson and Stuart Broad left Australia struggling on Day 1 itself. In the end, rain ended the day early in Hobart with Mitch Starc (0) and Carey (10) unbeaten.
