Jaydev Unadkat will return to England this weekend to resume his County Championship stint with Sussex, continuing a partnership that began in 2023. With the red‑ball season currently paused for The Hundred and the One‑Day Cup, the former India pacer is contracted exclusively for Championship fixtures and will rejoin the squad once the competition restarts. Unadkat played two matches in June before heading back to India following IPL commitments and is expected to feature in Sussex’s final six games, starting against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on August 20.
He views the stint as valuable preparation for India’s domestic season, having taken 57 wickets in 13 Championship matches at an impressive average of 17.75. This year he has eight wickets from four innings. Led by Ollie Robinson, Sussex sit fifth in Division One with four wins from eight games. Several other Indian players, including Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar, are also set to return for the Championship’s closing phase.
