Richard T. Lee wins LIV Golf Promotions event

Toronto native Richard T. Lee secured a spot in the 2026 LIV Golf League after dominating the Promotions event at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida. Lee carded impressive rounds of 64, 66, 64, and 65, ultimately winning by five strokes. The 35-year-old will compete as a “wild card,” filling one of the five individual spots outside the main team structure, although he remains available as a substitute.

A consistent performer on the Asian and Korean Tours, Lee recently failed PGA Tour qualifying but found redemption here, pocketing $200,000. However, this decisive career move automatically results in an indefinite suspension from future PGA Tour play. “It feels amazing,” Lee stated, expressing hope for a future Canadian team. While ineligible for team purses, he chases lucrative individual prizes, with event winners earning $4 million. Lee officially debuts in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting February 4, eager to compete against the world’s best players.
