Jenson Button found himself extremely close to another former F1 champ

As his Formula 1 career came to an end, Button has dabbled in a variety of racing series, including the World Endurance Championship, Super GT, DTM, and Extreme E. The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas, site of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, is the first of Button's three Cup Series races with Rick Ware Racing. NASCAR is a new addition to the list.

On Saturday, March 25, qualifying for the race was held. Button finished in P11 place in the Group A session, giving him his first taste of NASCAR qualifying action. He will start in position 24. The "Iceman" Kimi Raikkonen, who made a one-off appearance at Watkins Glen last season, is back in NASCAR action with Trackhouse Racing in the other group.
