Kevin Magnussen has openly acknowledged the need to enhance his performance

As a result of a comparison in which Hulkenberg often outran him in a single lap during the Bahrain Grand Prix and the 2023 season, Ayao Komatsu, the new team boss of Haas, stated that Magnussen's seven-tenths of a second behind the sister car's performance was "not acceptable."

Komatsu stated that Magnussen's "driving style" was the problem, not a lack of "talent," a point that Magnussen acknowledges and admits he has to work on. Magnussen acknowledged to the Jeddah-based Ekstra Bladet daily that "this is an area where I need to make progress." Magnussen also discussed the advancements Haas has achieved with the 2024 model, namely in the area of "long run" performance, which was a significant shortcoming of the car from the previous year because of heavy tire wear. Magnussen said, "Compared to those I was racing against, it was a huge relief not to be handicapped.
