Robert Kubica will not follow Polish sponsor Orlen from Alfa Romeo

Kubica spent two years with Williams before joining with Alfa Romeo as their official reserve driver, completing his motorsport comeback in 2018 when he returned to the Formula 1 circuit after suffering catastrophic arm injuries in a 2011 rally collision. Soon after naming Polish oil refiner and fuel merchant Orlen as their primary sponsor, Alfa Romeo also announced Kubica.

However, Kubica severed relations with the Hinwil-based team at the conclusion of the previous season following three years with it, which included participation at the 2021 Dutch and Italian Grands Prix. The issue of whether Kubica would follow Orlen in leaving the F1 team and joining AlphaTauri arose. Having competed in 99 grand prix, Kubica, 38, acknowledged last season that his career in Formula 1 could be coming to an end.
