Kimi Raikkonen announced he would be back to action in the Russian Grand Prix after the Finn missed out on the Dutch and Italian Grands Prix. Just before the Friday session for Dutch Grand Prix, the Alfa Romeo Racing driver had tested positive for Covid and hence had to be isolated as per the procedure.
Alfa Romeo employed Robert Kubica to replace him in the second car for the Netherlands as well as the Italian Grand Prix. Raikkonen is now healthy and ready to return to the grid to play out his part before he retires from F1 at the end of the season. The former World champion would be replaced by Valtteri Bottas in 2022. Dedicating a decade to the sport the Iceman made his debut in 2001 and so far has started 341 races.
