A DOMINANT PERFORMANCE MAINTAINS HEARTS AT THE SUMMIT

A goal each in each half gave Hearts of Oak a resounding victory over Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.

Newfound darling and poster boy, Ibrahim Salifu broke the deadlock for the home side with just 4 minutes of regulation time remaining in the first half after Medeama failed to clear their lines.

It was the Miners that started on the high note but was unable to beat Richard Attah in post for Hearts of Oak after Abass Mohammed was on hand to head on target but bar the brilliance save of the goalkeeper to deny him the opener.

Medeama’s Rashied Nortey was denied what seemed to be an obvious penalty after Isaac Mensah in his attempt to clear the ball of the foot of the Medeama player rather brought down the midfielder.

Hearts of Oak ended the first half with a solitary lead, back from the break, they took the game to the visitors as they started threatening. At the half-hour mark, Benjamin Afutu nodded home the second goal of the game from Emmanuel Nettey’s free-kick.

Medeama pushed and tried but they were unable to break the resilience defense of Hearts of Oak as their former coach stunned them to keep their title dream on course at the expense of his former club.
