A road-blocker for Barcelona in their chase for Jose Gaya

Barcelona has been on Jose Gaya’s tail for a while now but it seems like the Spanish international would stay with Valencia for a while. The 26-year-old would enter in his final 18 months of contract with Valencia, but despite the Catalan giants’ growing interest the player might sign an extension with Los Che and stay put at Mestalla.

Valencia’s academy product has been associated with the club since 2006, within six years he made his first-team debut at the age of 17 and since then has grown through the ranks to become the club captain last season replacing Dani Parejo. Internationally as well Gaya has been a regular feature in Spain’s team and has made 265 appearances for Valencia along with six goals and 31 assists. The Blaugrana might have to watch from the sidelines for further development.
